Statement on the death of Brianna Ghey

Statement on the death of Brianna Ghey

DCUSU is horrified and saddened to hear of the murder of Brianna Ghey, a 16 year old, Transgender girl from Cheshire, England.

Our thoughts are not only with Brianna’s friends, but also Brianna’s family, who have lost their beautiful, young and fearless daughter. We hope that they will receive justice as soon as possible.

We also want to send our solidarity to the Trans community who are mourning another Trans sibling. In 2022, at least 38 Transgender people were fatally shot, or killed by other violent means.

DCUSU is committed to opposing transphobia, and condemn the anti-Trans rhetoric that is contributing to transphobic hate crimes and murders.

May Brianna Rest in Power
