We are seeking expressions of interest from artists through an open call process for a mural commission!
DCUSU want to pay homage to all of our students who worked on the frontline over the last year, and we'd like your help to do it!
After an unprecedented year, DCU Students’ Union is preparing for the return to campus for up to 18,000 students from September. The team are all too aware of the sacrifices so many people have had to make in order to keep us safe, in particular student frontline workers. Frontline workers who were also students faced unique challenges. Some undergraduate and postgraduate students faced long shifts in hospitals and long hours of online classes and exams. Many donned full PPE and came in contact with Covid positive patients on a daily basis while carrying out clinical placements. In some cases, they had to move out of their homes due to the risk they posed to their families from being in contact with Covid patients daily. Students teachers also found themselves at the coalface, from teaching with face masks to satellite learning using new technologies. With increased vigilance, they adapted their teaching and lesson strategies to adhere to strict health and safety protocols. And let’s not forget about the many students deemed essential workers in retail roles in supermarkets, newsagents, and hardware stores across the country. Delivering a public service, under anxious conditions, when Covid community transmission was at its highest.
