Black History Week Schedule 

Tuesday 1st of November: 

  • Black and Irish will be doing their Anti-Racism and Anti-Bias Training. This will take place in the Cuilin Room from 6pm. Free Pizza included 

  • At 8pm in Nubar, there will be a “Black History Week Shite Night” with a cultural dress competition. We are asking everyone to wear their best cultural dress, there will be prizes. 

Wednesday 2nd of November: 

  • In the Interfaith Centre from 12pm, we will have a Multi-Cultural Potluck Lunch. We are asking all students and staff to bring in food from their culture. We will be accompanied by Chef Ellie Kisyombe. 

  • In Room SA10 in the Stokes Building, there will be a panel discussion on Mental Health and Racism. Speakers include, student speakers: Maya Yussuf & Uyi Austine. Guest Speakers: Blezzing Dada (mental health advocate), Paula Martinez (Hush Dialogues & Researcher), Pamela Uba (Miss Ireland), Amanda Nyoni (MASI). Free Pizza Included 

Thursday 3rd November: 

  • DCUSU presents the first ever “Black History Week Music Fest”, acts include: Tebi Rex, Ais, Negro Impacto and DJ Jesse. Tickets cost €5. Event in aid of MASI. Friday 4th November: 

  • There will be a vigil for those who have died in direct provision, outside the Interfaith centre at 2pm. 

There will be QR codes and Donation Buckets so students and staff can donate to MASI.
