As part of our DCUSU Lead Workshop Series, we have paired up with Women for Election who will facilitate three sessions encouraging the participants to put themselves forward for election by empowering them with information and practical campaign skills.

These three sessions will target self-identifying female students who have an interest in potentially running for student political life. The aim of the session is to encourage the participants to put themselves forward for election by empowering them with information and practical campaign skills.


Workshop One

Wednesday, 18th January, 4pm - Tony Ryan Room, 2nd Floor, The U Building

Be the Leader

What are the barriers facing women in leadership?How are women perceived when we lead?What tools are needed for strong communication?What part can you play in changing the face of women in leadership?

Join entrepreneur, broadcaster and Women on Air founder Margaret E. Ward to discuss how you can become the leader you want to see in your college community.

Participants will leave this session feeling equipped and empowered to take on a greater leadership role within the college community and outside of it. This session will ask you to reflect on your communication style is best for you and how best to apply the some key skills to improve your style.

Workshop Two

Wednesday, 25th January, 4pm - Online Session

Finding Your Purpose

Learn about confidence, and where it comes from, and begin your leadership journey. Join Cllr Yemi Adenuga Ireland’s first ever elected Black Female public representative and Meath County Council’s first migrant councillor. Yemi ran in the local elections of May 2019 and was elected to represent Navan Municipal District.

A social media and content strategy masterclass with Katie Deegan, Women for Election Communications and Project Coordinator, and former Labour Party Social Media Officer & Maynooth University Students’ Union Sabbatical Officer
